Meet Gregory S. Tate, DDS, MD

Dr. Tate is a native of Texas, born in Houston and raised in West Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Texas A&M University in 1988. His doctoral training includes graduating Magna Cum Laude with a dental degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also received a medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. His Oral and Facial Surgery residency was also at Southwestern, with most clinical rotations at Parkland Hospital. His interest in research generated several scientific publications during his residency and many opportunities to present his work at local and national meetings. He continues to enjoy lecturing on various Oral & Maxillofacial and Cosmetic Surgery topics at local Dental meetings.
Dr. Tate’s interests include implant dentistry, cosmetic surgical procedures such as eyelid, brow and rhinoplasty surgeries, facial cancer removal and reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, and trauma surgery. He performs many non-surgical cosmetic procedures, as well such as Botox and Restylane treatments. Since 1997, he has been performing facial chemical peels to help eliminate wrinkles. He also has a special interest in treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome and can offer surgical options for these patients.
Dr. Tate moved to Nacogdoches in 1999 with his family and entered private practice with Dr. Rick Hurst. His wife, Andrea, and three sons, Travis, Connor, and Jackson love the Nacogdoches/Lufkin area and are all very involved in Scouting and school sports activities. His professional associations include being a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and his societal memberships have included the American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, the American Sleep Apnea Association and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
