Meet Oral Surgeon Dr. Shirley

Photo of Brett Shirley, DDS, MD: Oral SurgeonDr. Brett Shirley was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He attended college at Louisiana Tech University on a golf scholarship. After college he went on to Dental school at UTHSC San Antonio. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2008.

Following dental school Dr. Shirley furthered his studies by being accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial residency program at UT Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX, which is known as one of the most prestigious maxillofacial surgery programs in the country. He earned his Medical Degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in 2011.

After medical school he completed an internship in General Surgery and finished his residency training of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2014. Following residency he was chosen to pursue additional fellowship training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. His fellowship was concentrated in Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Shirley is now the Chief Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Overton Brooks VA medical center in Shreveport. He is associate faculty at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport.

In 2014 he joined Oral & Facial Surgery Group of East Texas. Dr. Shirley’s practice includes all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, but he has a particular interest and special training in the removal and reconstruction of benign and malignant lesions of the head and neck region.
