Rick Hurst, D.D.S

Dr. Hurst was born in California and grew up in the panhandle of Texas. His undergraduate education was at Texas Tech University, graduating with a degree in Chemistry in 1972. His doctoral degree is from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training was a four year residency through the University of Texas in Houston, primarily at Ben Taub Hospital. He entered practice in Nacogdoches in 1980. For several years he maintained offices in both Nacogdoches and Lufkin.

He is married to Christy Milton Hurst and they have four children, ranging in age from 16 to 22.

Dr. Hurst’s special interests in Oral and Facial surgery are in the areas of the treatment of trauma, of pathology such as cysts and tumors of the jaws and in dental implants. His professional associations include being a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he served on the Advisory Board of Examiners for six years. He is a past President of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He maintains a volunteer part time faculty position at the University of Texas Houston Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program teaching in the area of practice management.
